An original painted study of a resting flock of Pied Avocet, Recurvirostra avosetta.
I watched this flock as the sun rose on the marshes in Cley Next-the-Sea, Norfolk, England. It was interesting how different flocks started their day at different times. This flock wasn't the first to start feeding, but they still got into motion well before the Black-tailed Godwits nearby.
